A 52-year-old man has been arrested by Kogi State Police after officers found 339 wraps of what is believed to be marijuana in his possession in Kabba, within the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, the state's Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi, explained that the arrest stemmed from intelligence-driven policing and routine stop-and-search activities.

The suspect was nabbed on May 9, 2026, around 2:00pm, when officers stationed at the Kabba Area Command pulled over a Honda Pilot SUV with the plate number LSD 456 GE.

Behind the wheel was one Chris Amos, aged 52, while a passenger named Bilat Joseph was also in the vehicle.

A thorough search of the car revealed 339 wraps of suspected cannabis hidden inside.

Early investigations indicate that the two suspects allegedly collected the consignment from Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, acting on instructions from an individual known only as "Alhaji," whose full identity and current location remain unknown.

The suspects reportedly disclosed that the drugs were meant to be delivered to Yola in Adamawa State.

Both individuals are currently in police custody, and the seized substances have been secured as evidence while investigations continue.

Kankarofi assured the public that all persons linked to the crime would face prosecution, adding that efforts are underway to track down and arrest other members of the suspected drug network.
